Hey Doorstep Green in Meltham is coming up to its first birthday.

The Green was opened in June last year by the Mayor of Kirklees and since then new signage has been added, additional planting has taken place, and the four allotments have been allocated and planted.

The Green is the responsibility of Meltham Environmental Ltd, a registered charity. Its Chairman, Cllr David Woodhead, now wants to move the project forward. He said

"The idea was to create a community facility which every one could enjoy and appreciate. We now want the community to take a leading role in supporting and developing this facility while caring for our environment.

This can be achieved, by every one coming together to help in keeping the site tidy, reporting any irregularities and also a willingness to join the Board of Directors to develop new ideas."
