David Woodhead, Liberal Democrat Member for Holme Valley North and Nicola Turner, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate are calling for urgent action on a footpath in Church Street, Honley. The renewed call comes following an incident in which a local resident has fallen and broken her wrist after tripping over a raised slab.

It has emerged that the pavement was recently re-laid but has been badly damaged by repeated pressure from lorries and other heavy vehicles being forced to drive on the pavement.

Although new parking restrictions are planned to ensure that vehicles are not forced to mount the kerb, in order to pass parked cars, Cllr Woodhead demands immediate action.

He says that: "I am aware that the street has been the subject of a long running operation to improve safety, however, I am demanding that emergency measures need to be taken to prevent any further incidents of this nature".
