Lindley Councillor Cahal Burke (Liberal Democrat) is taking part in the 'Run for All' 10K race in Leeds on the 4th July to raise money for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.
Councillor Burke, who was elected to Kirklees Council in May's local elections, is hoping to raise money for the charity as many of his family members have been affected by cancer.
'Run For All' is an exciting series of mass participation events which are open to people of all abilities. Whether people run, walk wheel or watch it provides the opportunity to participate - along with thousands of others - in fantastic events in major city centre locations across the UK whilst raising money for chosen charities.
Cllr Burke said:
"I am taking the opportunity to be part of "Run for All" this year to raise money for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre; a very worthy cause which is very important to me. It has also given me a personal goal throughout the year and helped to improve my general health and fitness."
Cllr Burke will be running the race with friend Dennis Doyle who is a boxing coach at Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club.
